Show MOTORJAOTIONS Prom Reno to San Francisco in 13 Vmrs, a distance of 305 miles through sands and up grades as steep as the steepest that automobiles essay to climb Is a feat just achieved by Murray Page, traveling representative of the Locomobile company, com-pany, in a big Locomobile car. The run from Reno to Sacramento over the Sierra ranges on a grade that climbs to an elevation ele-vation of 7,496 feet was made in just eight hours five hours better than the best previous record. Page, accompanied by L. E. King, who is well known throughout Nevada, started from Reno Saturday morning and drove to Carson City over one of the hardest stretches of sand afforded by the Nevada desert roads. From Glenbrook the Locomobile ran to the summit, where the elevation is 7,496 feet, by way of the old transcontinental stage road and on over to Placerville. This was the last place at which a stop was made on the eastern side of Sacramento. The run from the capital city to San Francisco Fran-cisco was reeled off in just five hours and five minutes, which gave a total time for the entire run of only five minutes above thirteen hours. But 33 gallons of gasoline were used during this strenuous trip, and not a second stop was made for tire trouble with the Fisk equipment. The distance to Reno by rail Is 244 miles and the train when running up to the best schedule gives 11 hours to the trip. This, while two hours (Continued on pago 15) MOTOR MOTIONS p (Continued from Pago 13 better than the Locomobile's time, Is over a route at least GO miles shorter. Consequently the honors hon-ors rest with the Locomobile. In addition to breaking the record, this is the first car which has been able to make the trip over the mountains moun-tains this year. The Utah Motor Car company will move into tre Moyle building on State street, which has been erected for it, by July first at the latest, and possibly sooner.' This announcement made this week by L. The structure will afford one of the finest homes for these cars in the entire west and the motor car supply department will be greatly enlarged and a much bigger stock carried than has been possible in the company's temporary quarters on West Temple street. The announcement of the 1911 Packard models has been followed by a great deal of inquiry on the part of prospective car owners, own-ers, according to Mr. Gilmer. The Packard's radical radi-cal departure in adopting the four door model in the 1911 cars is universally approved, according to reports from the factory. Orders are now being accepted for future delivery of these cars.
