Show H MOTOR MOTIONS H Everyone on motor row knew, of course, that H with ten days of good weather the talk of a rac- H ing meet or a hill climb would go buzzing about until enough of the dealers were innoculated to r give the hope of one or both events a touch of I seriousness. And that is about what has happened. So many are the high grade cars on the local market mar-ket now, and so keen is the competition, that where a year ago talk of a road nace or hill-climbing hill-climbing contest met with little encouragement, it is now being seriously considered for one of the late spring months or for the early summer. It is probable that both events will be held. There are four or five courses over which a splendid road race could be run, and no better course for a hill can be found any place than Brigham street, through Federal Heights and up onto the macadam road to the Post. The Utah Motor Car company reports the arrival ar-rival of three Cadillac touring cars this week, which will probably be unloaded today and placed in the company's garage ready for demonstration. Early next week the company will receive three American Travelers, one finished in a chocolate color with gilt trimmings and the other with a body finished in red. Both cars, Manager Gilmer says, are beauties. The company is completing arrangements for instituting its proposed auto service to Brighton as soon as the season at that chai'mlng resort opens up, and in the meantime Is devoting its attention to sales and deliveries of Packards, Americans, Cadillacs and Detroit Electric Elec-tric cars. Among the latest automobile rubber supply houses to open offices here is the Hendrie Rubber Rub-ber company, of Denver, which has taken quarters quar-ters at 210 South West Temple street. The company com-pany Is handling Republic tires, and a full line of rubber goods and other automobile accessories. acces-sories. The Inquiry among the various dealers of electrics is picking up as women realize the convenience con-venience of the stylish little cars for shopping and general town work. A. O. Whitmore, who handles the Baker electrics, the only shaft-driven electric on the market, reports an unusually active ac-tive inquiry on these cars. Mr. Whitmore is handling han-dling a complete line of shaft-driven electrics, and maintains at 27 Richards street one of the best equipped electric motor car garages in the west. Since the announcement made last week of the big automobile deal by which the Studebaker Brothers company becomes sole agent for the Studebaker E-M-F-"30" and the Studebaker Flanders Fland-ers "20" cars, the local Studebaker company has received many inquiries regarding the first shipments ship-ments of E-M-F's to be received by the local company, com-pany, and on the Flanders "20." The latter Is a new car to Salt Lakers, and the success that it has attained elsewhere, backed by the guarantee' under which all cars are marketed by the Studebaker Stude-baker company, will probably make it an. important impor-tant factor on motor row before many weeks. The first car was shipped into town by express from Detroit, and Mr. Reed, of the automobile department, depart-ment, has been very busy since its arrival. The "Utah Auto Tire and Repair company, which has opened an establishment on East Second Sec-ond South street, just beyond the Grand theatre, received its machinery and equipment this week and has been busy since Monday installing the latter. The company will have one of the most complete and up-to-date automobile tire and repairing re-pairing plants In the intermountain country, and Is entering the field here at an opportune time. |
