sunshine and ard his deth death will cause regrets in the hearts of ev cv every even cry ery person who was so fortunate as to number himself among the acquaint acquaintances acquaintances ances ancee of the fine old gentleman Judge Blair was in his usual good health on Sunday evening ening e on Monday morning he was indisposed but had no premonition of his approaching end He was W among his associates in the club until noon and then not feeling well he went to his room He had a severe pain in his side for which Dr DrA DrA DrA A C Ewing prescribed Late Monday evening the judge grew worse Dr PI kerton and Dr Union Worthington were w re called in a trained nurse vas se secured secured secured cured and all that was sas possible was done by doctors nurses and attend attendants attendants attendants ants to alleviate the suffering of the theman theman man who was as a favorite with all It wag vu all in vain and just as s the morn morning morning mornIng ing was breaking his spirit g took its flight The doctors are of the opinion o that death de th was the result of heart tail fail failure ute ure u brought br on by old jold age Judge Blair has had an eventful ca en career career reer rear he was wa in public life the greater part of sixty years he filled fill d many high offices and filled every very one well w lI He Hell was universally ll liked and respected by byall byall all witti th whom he was brought into into contact The judge was born in Virginia Virgini April AprilS 38 S 3 1821 1321 so thu tha had he lived until next April he would have been SO EO years old As a young man he studied law lawand lawand a w wand and located ted in West est Virginia He served in the legislature of pis is state was twice sent cont to congress and was one of the most active in securing statehood for his state during the civil war He H also aIso loo represented his govern government government ment melt at Costa Rica and later was ap appointed appointed pointed associate justice of Wyoming I by President Pr dent Grant He served in that office for a number of years and then came CUe to Utah in 1889 In 1891 he was made probate judge here and served sered in t hat at office until 1895 In 1897 he was made ma ma surveyor general for Utah by President McKinley and continued in that office until h his hs s death There was as no better entertainer in all the western country than Judge Blair He H was as witty witt a good story storyteller storyteller teller had bad an inexhaustible fund of good e and was waS everywhere everY here rec recognized recognized recognized as q an allaround royal good goodfellow goodfellow fellow He was the life of the Alta club He joined that association in 1889 and was always alVa s on hand for a good time tim His is 15 the
