Show BETTER TYPE OF CATTLE, AIM Utah County Farmers and Dairymen May Organize Bull Associations. Jersey cattle breeders in various sections of Utah county are considering con-sidering the organization of bull nssnciations, according to J. P. Welch, county agricultural agent. During the past week Mr. Welch and Samuel Bashorove, government govern-ment specialist in dairying with the U. S. Western Dairy office at Suit Lake City, visited the dairymen dairy-men ia various sections of the county educating them on the necessity neces-sity of such organizations. Meet-inns Meet-inns were hold with the farmers of TH'tijamin, Lake, Shore, Palmyra, Lchi, American Forte, Pleasant (Jrnvo, Lindon and Provo. The plan of organization, according accord-ing to Mr. Welch, is to bring together to-gether the breeders of all communities com-munities who are interested in n particular brood of cattle for the purpose of organizing an extensive associnliim consisting of a series of Mocks to consist of each locality where a bull Is kept. A block may ! cither be one or more than one co m in unity. "The bulls located in each block' should be of uniform quality and of as near equal breeding and production produc-tion record as possible," said Mr. Welch. "It will be the aim of the acaociatlon to move these bulls to another block every two years. This will reduce the expense of each local block since for tho price of one animal each block is given the service of three or four, according to the number of blocks in the asso-ointion. asso-ointion. "Another advantage is that by the time these animals have been held within the association from six to eight years, the cattle produced WIU he of a uniform high quality. On this plan of associating together the farmers are able to purchase much more costly animals of a jiiRhcr producing quality at a much lower figure than each individual farmer would have to pay for an individual scrub bull." |
