UTAH RETURNS Utah's steaming race was resolved re-solved decisively with the election of George Dewey Clyde who, though having no political background, back-ground, had a tremendous backlog back-log of appointive activity with various phases of government, especially es-pecially water conservation. Senator Wallace F. Bennett returns re-turns for his second six-year term in the Upper House. Representatives Representa-tives William A. Dawson and Henry Aldous Dixon make a return bow in the Lower House. : On the state level Lamont F. Toronto continues as Secretary of" State, E. R. Callister as Attorney General, Sid Lambourne becomes State Auditor and Sherman J. Preece State Treasurer. Third District Attorney is Aldon J. Anderson An-derson of 2862 East 3335 South. Another southeaster who won was Senator D. E. Hammond of 2134 Bryan Avenue from District six and county district two. In the race for house seats in the state voting ran as follows for southeasters: 5th District, Harry Har-ry W. Madsen, 945 Princeton Ave.; sixth district Charles Welch, Jr., 1940 Michigan Ave.; 7th district Maurice Anderson, 2485 Highland Drive; 8th District, Adam M. Duncan, Dun-can, 1323 Bryan Avenue; 9th District, Dis-trict, D. James Cannon, 1710 So. 21st E.; 10th district, Wallace A. Peterson, 1058 Washington; 14th district, Nicholas J. Teerlink, 1989 Roberta; 16th District W. Sterling Evans, 1120 Ridgewood Lane; 17th district, G. Douglas Taylor, 1736 Millcreek Way; 20th district, Bryce E. Roe, 6831 Meadow Drive. Salt Lake County Commissioners are Edwin Q. Cannon and Abram Barker. One of the great changes on the passing scene, though not because of the election, will be the passing of the governor's mansion. In a short time now Governor J. Braken Lee will move out into private quarters and the mansion itself becomes be-comes the home of the Utah Historical Society which will house a museum and valuable library of books and papers. |
