Show s-, SPANISH FORK. Sickness Thinning Out the Schools. Farmers Busy Preparing For the Cominei Season's Work. TnERE was a sociable gathering at the home of Mr. Jos. A. Rees, Tuesday Tues-day night last. Among the many guests present were, the Hon. AATm. Creer, Supt. John Jones, County Superintendent Su-perintendent E.A. AVilson, Trustee N. Smith, Mr. Llewelyn Jones, Treasurer Moore, of the Co-op. Store, and a number num-ber of others equally noteworthy. I'rof. Coddington sang several of his popular airs. Supt. AATilson conducted the amusements, and all behaved admirably ad-mirably well at the table. Last night at Creer & Nielsen's hall, a grand ball was given by the school teachers in honor of Samuel Brock- bank, Esq., who is about to go on a mission to England. The gentleman has occupied with honor many positions posi-tions of trust and responsibility. Prof. Biimhall, Hon. AA'm. Creer and F. Lewie, Esq., delivered brief eulogistic remarks of the progressive life of the gentleman. The whole was a success. There is a great amount of sickness sick-ness here at preient in consequence of which the district schools are considerably consid-erably thinned out. Banks & Moore have sold out their entire interest in their saloon to par ties from Provo and Payson, it is understood. un-derstood. Elder George Jex has just returned re-turned from a successful mission to the Southern States. AArelcome home. TnE farmers are very busy putting in their crops, and the merchants are preparing their spring stock. Supt. John Jones has purchased a valuable piece of property on Main street. |
