Judge Harknes3 and Superintendent Welby of the R. G. W. By. Co., were in Provo to-day, and in an interview with a Disfatcii reporter stated they were here with the view of selecting ground for their new depot. They tated that the whole thing rested with the people of Provo. as to what kind of a depot would be buil. ''If they are kindly disposed toward us,," said Mr. Welby, "you can expect a good depot built here this summer. 'No plans have boen drawn yet. but I think that a good substantial brick building, with a tower, and all the modern improvements, improve-ments, will be built." To tho City Council comm'ttee oh public grounds, with whom they met thi3 afternoon' they stated they wanted a franchise to run three tracks on First street, taking a space of thirty-six feet, leaving thirty-five feet for teams to turn on" The committee think that satisfactory arrangements can be made so as to allow al-low the Railroad Company to have that I much ground. Supt. Welby and Judgr Harknes3 both think that tho new depot will be situated a little to the south of the present depot, and will be much larger and more commodious. It will have a dining room capable of seating one hundred people. Thsre will be two waiting rooms, ticket office, freight warehouse, a suite of private offices, and well equipped with every modern improvements. Both gentlemen gentle-men left in their special by this afternoon's after-noon's train. ' |
