A fine baby boy arrived Sunday, February 10, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Brewer at West Jordan. The mother, Mrs. Loretta Nielsen Brewer was formerly of American Fork, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolpli Nielsen. The boy was a most Wellcome Wel-lcome arrival, as four girls preceded him. Mother and babe are doing very nicely. The Fourth Ward Geneological committee was entertained Wednes-day Wednes-day evening at the home of Mrs. Thomas Coddington. David Smith, and Miss Ellen Smith of Salt Lake City, were among the out-of-town people who attended the high school opera "Faust" presented at the High School Auditorium Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John E. , Berg, Mr. and Mrs. James Varney and Mrs. Berg's mother, Mrs. Householder, left Monday morning for California, where they expect to spend a three weeks vacation. Mrs. James Chipman, Mrs. William Will-iam Chipman, Mrs. Leonard Chipman and Mrs. J. L. Firmage, were guests of Mrs. Ray Rosebraugh of Salt Lake City at a party given by the Sigma Theta Sorority at the Covenant House in Salt Lake Saturday. Mrs. W. C. Boley, Mr. and Mrs. Abner Chipman, Mrs. Roy Steele, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hawkins and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Robinson were among those from this city who attended the funeral services of Mrs. Ann E. Maag, held in Vineyard Monday afternoon. Howard Payman, organist at the Cameo Theatre, was given the opportunity op-portunity to play the Wurlitzer pipe organ at the Paramount Theatre in Provo last week, during the vacation of the regular organist. The experience ex-perience was a wonderful opportunity for Mr. Paxman, who has a future open to him in musical lines. Mr. Paxman is also attending the B. Y. U. along with studying pipe organ. Mr. and Mrs. (John E. Berg and Ray Shelley, were business visitors in Salt JLalje City Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mercer were guests at dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Adams and Mrs. Sadie Henry of Salt Lalte City, attended the funeral of Mrs. A. A. Green Monday. They were also guests at the home of Mrs. Leonard Chip-man Chip-man during their stay. Irs. Ruben Chipman and daughters, daught-ers, Eileen, Sarah and Florence, motored to Salt Lake City Saturday, where they spent the day visiting relatives. The Primary officers and teachers of the Fourth ward were entertained Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. IJames M. Grant. Business problems were discussed the forepart fore-part of the evening, after which a social hour was enjoyed. Delicious refreshments were served to sixteen. Mrs. Clyde Strong of Alpine, who was operated on for gall stones four weeks ago at the Lehi Hospital, hu3 been at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Smith for the past ten days recuperating. She was removed re-moved to her home Wednesday, and was reported to be doing very nicely. Mrs. A. B;. Adams entertained last Friday evening at a miscellaneous shower, in honor of Mrs. Alva S. Adams, formerly Miss Sarah A. Reese of Lehi, whose marriage to Alva S. Adams took place February 4. Progressive Pro-gressive games and music were en-Joyed, en-Joyed, after which delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served. The guest list numbered thirty. It has been suggested by several firm hackers of our annual Poultry Founders day celebration that the poultry men begin to plan now for this coming event. It is suggested that the poultry men start to save chicken feathers, and it is hoped that when plans commence on the big event, every man will be able to submit sub-mit at least a blanket of feathers a yard square to help in the decorating. It is deemed that if each one did this, some very beautiful floats could be made, which would not only furnish the proper setting, but create a striking strik-ing appearance. The American Fork Firemen social members and their partners entertained enter-tained the regular members and their partners Tuesdiy evening at the home of Mr. ani Mrs. David Davis. The entertainmeit was in the form of a Valentine parly, the decorations and lunch being carried out in this theme. Progressive 'Rook" was enjoyed en-joyed during the evening, prizes being won by Ray Sager, Glen Varney, Vern Walker and Mrs. Mary Humphries. Hum-phries. An interesting social, event of the week was thy regular meeting of the Ladies Literary Association held at the home of Mis. John H. Miller Thursday afternoon. Mrs. C. A. Pier-son Pier-son was assisting hostess. Along with diversions of social chat and music, a very interesting program was given. Mrs. Monroe Paxman of Provo gave a book revue on an Irish Romance. The other numbers consisted of a vocal solo by Mrs. W. R. Halliday and a piano selection by Mrs. Walter A. Strange. The entertaining enter-taining rooms were cleverly decorated decorat-ed in a red and white color scheme, red and white carnations being the motifs. Favors and luncheon menu were of a Valentine nature. The special guests included, Mrs. Joseph Miller, Mrs. Parley Austin, Mrs. Jeanette Miller, Mrs. Walter A. Strange and Mrs. A. E. Doll. D." organization, and its purpose is to instill enthusiasm in high school athletics and sports, create interest and kindle school spirit. The winners selected from f the contestants will comprise the i team to enter the state and national j debates. The winners will also com- j pete with the West Side High School i of Salt Lake during this month on the question, "Resolved that the state of j Utah should adopt the law similar to j the Baums Law of New York."
