Btllwell have just returned from a six days' automobile trip, probably tbo longest continuous Journey yet undertaken by any Utah lady. They made the run in easy stages of about sixty miles per day, having no trouble In reaching hotels for accommodation, and calling on a tew friends en route. They left Ogden Saturday, running only to. Echo, fifty miles, the first day, reaching Evanston, forty miles, in time for lutich at the Pacific hotel Sunday, and the ball game' between Ogden and Evanston, and taking several friends for ahort rides, including Mr. Carlin and hta family, and Mr. Seaman and hla wife. Only one automobile bad visited Evanston before and none had passed over the route between Evanston and Montpelier, Idaho, tbe conveyance of the tourists being immediately surrounded by the natives wherever a atop waa made. On the third afternoon they reached Klshhaven, seventy miles from Evanston, a delightful summer resort on Bear lake; the fourth day making Soda for miles, in time Springs, fifty-olunch at the Idan-h- a hotel. The fifth day's run waa over tbe miles roughest country, elghty-flv- o from Soda Springs, to Logan, requiring ten hours' driving.- Several p reel pilous, narrow and tortuous dug waya in the vicinity of Riverdale would have caused the driver's hair to stand If ha had had any. and did cause hla lady to make emphatic demands to be let out to walk down, and on one occasion, where the machine could not be driven in tbe regular wagon track on account of the high centre and deep ruts, the demand was romplied with. About this time Constable Moore of Wells, Nevada, was called and tha two offlcera arrested several more Greeks who were wearing the stolen goods underwear, overshirts and shoes. Some of these fellows squealed, Implicating three other Greeks, together with tha Trakaa above mentioned. One of them took the officers to a place where it waa claimed that Trakaa had cached some of the goods he had not yet of. In the sagebrush a few feet from the railroad track were uncovered an old trunk filled with the stolen goods and another parcel nr two of the same stuff. Ia hiding these goods the thieves were pretty smooth. They bed dug a trench, buried the stuff, covering It to a good depth with the dry dirt, and then even going so far aa to replace. In n natural position, the sagebrush removed when digging tha trench. In all thirteen of the gang were arrested, either aa principals or aa witnesses. The men were taken to Wells and charged with petit larceny. Tuesday they had their examination before Judge Angel. Of the gang four plead guilty or were convicted of the charge and received sentences as follows: Gust Trakaa, 1.100 fine or 150 days; John Caraa, 6300 fine or 150 daya; Tom Karonla, 120 fine nr 60 daya; Gust Caraa, 6120 fine or HO daya. They were taken to the jail at Elko, Nevada, by Constable Moore. It ia said that all the convicted men have money and lhat. they will pay their fines. Should aurb prove the rase, the county will be considerably enriched by their convirtlon to the tune of 6840. Mr. Sullivan did splendid work In ferreting out and convicting these petty thieves, and it. is altogether likely that these convictions will put a atop to the traffic at least for awhile.
