Show H POSTOFFICE CHANGES. 1 t There is talk of the postoffice department establishing centers ' of distribution for the magazine mail, so that instead of burdening H: the mail cars in the long run across the continent with tons of this ' weekly or monthly reading matter, the shipments would be made j by fast freight to central points, there to be sent out by mail to H their final, destination,. H With this change in contemplation, Ogden should make rcpre- H sentations as to its, advantage as a central point of distribution. H Another point, in relation to contemplated postal Changes, the H railway mail service between Ogden and Oakland is to be reor- H ganized and the indications are the "run" will be cut in two, with H many of the regular mail clerks located in Ogden. This is important H as it promises to add to Offden's population by bringing many fam- H jlies to this city. Oakland's commercial clubs 'are opposing tho move Hl and are strenuously insisting on keeping all the railway mail clerks who now make their homes in Oakland. The Weber club should i aim to counteract the influence of the Oakland organization and do B all possible to bring about the change. |
