Fort Scott, Kan., the other evening forbade Mrs. Emma Collins Col-lins Johnson of Joplin, Mo., to live with her husband, J. H. Johnson, a young man of Joplin, whom she married mar-ried a month ago. She was divorced one day by Judge Simmons and married mar-ried to Johnson the next. The court heard she was to be married and wired her warning that - if she married so soon after being divorced he would set the decree aside and she would have two husbands. The telegram was received re-ceived by her half an hour after the wedding. She was ordered to appear before the judge. All sorts of proposals propos-als were made by her friends in Joplin Jop-lin to spare her the embarrassment, but the court would entertain none of them and she was forced to go. Mrs. Collins Johnson is the daughter of an j old and prominent family. She was i stylish and prepossessing enough as ohe appeared in the court to influence almost any court, but Judge Simmons was inexorable. He accused her of having deceived him in the trial and bv her conduct since the trial. Two disinterested attorneys voluntarily addressed ad-dressed him under their privileges as I friends of the court and urged him not to set the decree aside, but he was unalterable un-alterable in his purpose. |
