J Owing mainly to the good manage- ment anil .untiring energy of the A. O. H. and the Daughters of Erin, St. Patrick's Day in Butte lias ever been a blaze of patriotic glory, not all tinsel tin-sel and show, but coming from., the J heart and fed by sentiments that were j I planted ages ago in ;the Irish heart, j In true Catholic style, the day was j begun by high ma9a at, St. Patrick's. Later young Erin, at tho Parochial pchool, in eloquent terms paid glowing tribute to Ireland's Iwros, martyrs and saints. In the evening the following j well known people appeared in!a musical mu-sical and special entertainment at Miners' TTnion Hall: Hon. T. Mayne Derby, Messrs. Frank Oliver, Joseph Ryan. John Mathews. Hon. B. C. Mur- : ray. X. F. Kendal, W. J. Nelson. Dut- I ton Wansor, John Cassidy and Charles Demnster. and Mrs. Thomas Parker, Miss Dora Purcell, Miss Frances Hewitt Hew-itt and Mrs. Mable Cassidy. The piano accompanists were Miss Kinnear, Mrs. J. M. Fitzpatrick and Mr. Joseph P. Lonke. The celebration in all its departments was a rcidod success, and reflects much credit on the patriotism and self-sacrificing self-sacrificing energy of all Hibernian organizations. or-ganizations. Irish mirth. Irish music and that sparkling wit so characteristic of the Irish race were apparent everywhere, and in abundance. The different committees of the A. .O. H. have been busily engaged during the past week, completing arrangements for the celebration. The committee on arrangements have prepared the following fol-lowing programme: The parade will start from Hibernia hall Ceivterville at 9 o'clock, after inarching through the principal street, will proceed to St. I Patrick's Church, where a' grand High Mass will be sung Rev. Father O'Far-rell O'Far-rell of Helena will deliver the sermon ser-mon on the occasion. After the conclusion of the services at the Church, the procession will inarch to St. Patrick's parochial school where literary exercises will be held. It will then countermarch and. return to the hall at Centerville, where a grand musical and literary entertainment entertain-ment will be given under the auspices of the Daughters of Erin.. The evening will De devoted to dancing and other social amusements. j J. "W. Cotter, the well known attorney j of this city, returned last week from an ; extended visit to New York and east- j ern cities. He was accompanied by Mrs. Cotter. Butte Notes. On April 3, a mission .will be opened ; at St. Patrick's for the special benefit of the French Catholics. It will be conducted by Rev. Father Marsille of Bourbounais, Ills. As the sermons and all other exercises of the mission are to be conducted in the French lan- guage, it is to be hoped that all ! French Catholics residing in Butte and ' vicinity will deem it their duty to attend. at-tend. Rev. Father Barens of "iValkerville ' gave a complimentary party to the members of St. Lawrence choir at ; Crystal Springs last week. Rev.
