Show ! State's Birthday. Kvfi-y patriotic resident of Colorado is going to do something to celebrate Colorado day August 1, which falls on . Thursday of next week. The sixteenth 1 general assembly made the state's I birthday a legal holiday and the sons I of Colorado are trying to see that J every one makes the occasion a mem- Iorable one. The Catholic Young Men's club is planning an excursion to Eldorado Springs for the day and is arranging z really interesting program. Eldorado Springs is right up in the mountains, Just twenty-seven miles from Denver, and when you get there a few Pteps takes you right to South Boulder canyon, The falls are one of the prettiest sights near the capital city. The three swimming pools and the splendidly equipped tath house are features of the resort which are largely large-ly responsible for its popularity. It has been open little more than a year, but has found a first place in the hearts of ex ursion lovers of Denver and towns intjie vicinity. Realizing fiat this is Just the spot in which to spend a hot summer day. the Cath'jlio Young Men's club made arrangements to run a special excursion excur-sion to the park for Colorado day. The train leaves Denver at ! in the morning, returning In the evening. The eathering will be chaperoned by Mrs. Kdward Kelty. Mrs. Fred K. Paul and Mrs. C. M. McCabe. They will also look after the lunch. The young men engaged in arringing the picnic are Kdward Kelty, Jr.; Dr. J. J. O'Neil. Dr. James I. Laughlin, M. T. Cassidy, Michael Walsh, John B. McGauran, James Crowley, W. Ruff and William Killian. The proceeds of the picnic will be devoted by the club to a fund which will ultimately be used in erecting a club building. Temporarily the club has headquarters headquar-ters in the Charles building, where the rooms are open day and night in order or-der that strange young men may have an opportunity of meeting the young men of Denver. The club is composed of unmarried men from the fifteen Crt nolle parishes of. the city. It was organized three years ago, but its growt !i in the past year has been especially es-pecially gratifying. |
