Show COUNTY "FANS" WANT LEAGUE A movement is on foot among ths baseball fans of Sanpete and Sevier counties to fcrm a two-county baseball base-ball league and to this end A. D. Martin, of Manti, op. a recent visit here, strongly advocated the proposition. propo-sition. The matter wis discussed among the local fans and was met with a hearty approval. Mr. Martin will take the matter up with the r.port-loving people of Richfield and Salina and it is believed that the league will become a reality in a short time. It is proposed to have the league composed of purely amateur players and no "paid players" will be allowed al-lowed to participate in any of the playing and that the respectiva towns furnish their men without pay. At a recent meeting of the members mem-bers of the Gunnison club, J. W. Jones, cashier of the Gunnison Valley Val-ley bank, was chosen -managgr. Mr. Jones stated that just as soon as the park was in condition, practice work would start and that the Gunnison "colts" would be in readiness to take on all contenders for honors. While nothing definite has been announced as yet, it is likely that a practice game will be played on the local diamond dia-mond next Sunday afternoon. An effort will be made to have a team come from Mayfield for a "try-out." |
