Show Thursday, January 19, 2007 Obituary Society The Gunnison Valley Gazette 60th Anniversary Lorna Dean Lorensen Jensen 1914 - 2007 Richfield, Utah - Our dear, sweet, beautiful mother returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father January 12, 2007, just short of her 93rd birthday. She was born April 24, 1914 in Elsinore to loving parents, Hans and Sarah Lorensen. She married Max T. Nielson May 2, 1933 in Richfield. He preceded her in death, February 13, 1936. They had one son, Robert Max Nielson. She married Tell O. Jensen May 31, 1939 in Manti. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple May 15, 1953. He preceded her in death July 1, 1980. She always said that she had lived several different lives. She suffered many difficulties and afflictions through her many years, and faced them all courageously. She went through the depression years and her oral history is on file at Richfield High School. After Max’s death she went to school in Provo to become a beautician. She fixed hair for family and friends for many years in Richfield. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She enjoyed her family and all of the activities that go along with a family including games and even earlier years of fly fishing with Tell. She enjoyed cooking and made wonderful English toffee and peanut brittle and loved to share it. She liked to sew, quilt, and crochet. Her children and grandchildren have enjoyed her hundreds of beautiful quilts, afghans, and baby shawls. She loved to travel. When Tell worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, she traveled with him and enjoyed living in Arizona, New Mexico, California, Mississippi and Kansas until his retirement. During this time, she had many church callings and performed many acts of service for the Lamanite people. Later on she enjoyed going on temple tours and scenic tours with her friends. Lorna has kept very active most of her life. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a teacher in Primary and MIA. She was in the presidency of the First Ward Relief Society and the Richfield Stake Relief Society. With this calling, she served many hours sewing temple and burial clothes. She played the piano and served as an organist. She loved music and reading. She enjoyed doing temple work as often as possible. She worked in the FREP program, and was a visiting teacher for many years. She was president of the Study Club along with other offices in that club. She enjoyed her home evening group and sewing group with her friends. She will be remembered for her happy smile, generosity, and loving disposition. She was a good friend and neighbor to all, and especially a super wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. The past few years have been hard, but she still had her sweet spirit and beauti- Page 3 Elder Cody Ludvigson Don and Loraine Anderson ful smile for everyone. We love her and will miss her very much.
