The fire started on the second floor and from the dryness of the woodwork the whole upper part was soon in flames. All the contents of the lower rooms was saved, the neighbors lending their aid with a will. Had there been plenty of water the woodwork of the lower rooms could probably have been saved. It is not known just how the fire originated, but it was probably from a defective stove pipe or flue. Mr. Miles is away at present at the grind stone factory.
