Show E P ellison heard from the kaysville Kays ville democratic correspondent of the salt lake herald under date of october ath 1894 makes a shameful ua exhibition of his ignorance and his proverbial habit of misrepresentation in attempting to disprove the statements contained in the resolutions adopted at the county republican convention regarding the running expenses of the county he says the running expenses of davis county in 1893 was considerable less than in 1892 as the following figures from the published financial statement will show here lie he leaves the point at issue and proceeds to garble the financial fina lecial statement in attempting to give the total disbursements for the years 1892 and says the total disbursements for 1892 were wera quoting from the same authority I 1 find that the total disbursements for the same year was just less than he makes it further he says the total disbursements bur for 1893 were the same authority he quotes gives total disbursements for 1893 making another ency of his claim is that there was a saving to the county in 1893 over 1892 of the actual saving to tile the county is on the ihde of 1892 in the sum of this places the democratic scribe from the truth next he says say in 1893 there was expended on roads and highways account and during 1892 only or less than in 1893 who shall say that an expenditure for roads is not a good ij investment vestment I 1 agree with the correspondent that the expenditure of tile the revenue un on the roads is a good iti investment vestment and had nt not the court of 1892 left a balance of over in the treasury tr eaury the 1893 court could not lave have expended such stich a large sum on the roads I 1 would further say that the democratic theories llie ories and practices since the present national democratic party fame came into power laye made it il impossible for the hie tax payers payer to pay their taxes only in labor a upon the roads quoting him further in addition to lo the above it should be stated that there was a debt of 1800 contracted by the court in 1892 that was paid by the present administration and charged to the 1893 account I 1 deny the above statement aud and challenge the author to produce the items the republican resolutions are charged with intent to decie deceive voters patient readers I 1 leave it to you to decide where the real deception lies again he says AB to the salary of assessor and collector their statements are again at t fault the davis county officer acer receives less than thad the assessor and collector of any any other county etc our resolutions claim the assessor and collector receives near 2000 not less not more than some other assessor of some other county why dont the scribe tell just what this official does docs receive also that it was to i aise ahe his he percentage even for this ye year ar ra near 2000 was waa not enough but it il las bas been added to I 1 with many other tax payers aro anxious to know when those raises will end the last laet item of the Kayt iville democratic scribe in the form of advice to myself would lure have been in good taste providing I 1 bad been in need of any at the time when I 1 appended my signature to those republican resolutions as the above figures and statements conclusively shows very respectfully I 1 E P ELLi ellisom sox LATTON october 1894 |
