Show A SPLENDID SHOW the home boys and girls make the hit of the season we ve believe that we express the popular sentiment when we say that the play jien given by the home dramatic company during the after afternoon noon and evening of thanksgiving day was one of the best ever given by the local thespians the spans and was in actual mil it superior to nine tenths of the travel ling shows that come this way the house was packed with children in the afternoon and for the evening performance every seat was sold before sundown we have never seen a more crowded house since the place was opened and the best of order prevailed the play was A southern rose with the following cast victor blanchard J E V baird dudley C 0 christensen erastus ellas elias confucius carter j L J frank bowring edwin carlyle F D baird judge carlyle J P christensen uncle joe charley drown brown sentinel geo zundel captain fensome tracy gidney gadney lucille carlyle mrs lauretta nett neff gay carlyle louie bywater kate wilmarth Wll marth cleo forsgren mrs its neff as leading lady in the part of lucille carlyle won a place in the hearts of the people by her splendid interpretation of the part miss louie bywater was just as sweet as could be in the part of the young girl gay carlyle and acquitted herself very creditably indeed As kate wilmarth Wll marth miss cleo forsgren looked simply stunning the part was not very long but was well taken b by miss forsgren mr john E baird as victor blanchard of the federal army was himself again and thoroughly maintained his position as the best actor in in his line in this city they all have have to take their hats off to john the mart of dudley bild of wel sustained byr by sir mr C 0 christensen Chrls mr christensen is becoming quite pro and Is right at home on the stage frank Bo wrings popularity will never wane so long as he la Is able to tread the boards As aa etc he was a success although the dart arl is ig quite different from lus usual line except for one or two lapses of memory always taken good natu natured ly because its frank we could not suggest any improvement although the part was short and did not give much chance tor for the exhibition hibi tion of talent mr felix D baird a as s colonel of the kentucky independents gadea good account of himself nearly everybody was agreeably surprised at the excellent rendition of the part of judge carlyle by mr air john P christensen the part appeared to have been made especially for him and he was right at home in it from beginning to end if charley brown keeps up his present lick lie he will be our best he made a good beginning as uncle joe the servant no irishman need le be humiliated by the exhibition of mv mr george zundel as sentinel he had the whole thing the smile and the brogue down pat tracy gidney is growing to be a handsome fellow especially on the stage As captain fensome life he looked exceptionally flue fine when ane stops stopa to consider that these young people appear before the footlights but once in a year or two at least most of them atas it Is remark able the amount of talent they display if they were to go on the road awhile they would put to shame a great number of the travelling tra velling troupes that we see here |
