Show Too Bad AGED MINER FOUND DEAD Familiar Figure on Milford Streets for Many Years Passes Away Dick Williams is dead. Everybody knew Dick. Once seen he could never be forgotten. Dick was a miner. He was born a miner. It is thought by those who knew him best that he was a native of Gold Hill, Nevada, and he grew up and lived in mining camps all his life. Dick was a hard drinker, as many miners are who live the wild out-of-doors life among the rich though barren hills of the highly mineralized districts. Money comes easy and goes easier. There is no doubt that Dick Williams had an interesting in-teresting life story if it could be known, in detail and properly told. It is thought that he was about 60 years old. He had a blind or bad eye that gave him a most peculiar appearance and it has been remarked remark-ed that he would have needed no makeup to take the par of the famous fa-mous "Dick Deadeye" the fighting sailor of the well known opera, "Pinafore." Dick had been gradually gradu-ally failing for a long time and his undermined constitution was in no condition to withstand the rigors of this severest of winters. He worked in the Horn Silver mine in the early days and was known as a good miner in his younger years, having worked of Nevada and Utah. The body of the dead miner was found in the old Guio corral early Wednesday morning. A fund was raised among his old time acquaintances acquaint-ances and he was given a decent burial. It is said that there is some basis for the belief that the dead man had a brother in California, but no one seemed to know where to find him. |
