Monday, the 4th lust., at high noon. Marshal Crawford puld his resiiects to and Mayor Luft as the duly-electqualified City Marshal of Mercur. Ills honor had evidently overlooked1 the fact that Monday was the time the change should take place. He Immediately set to work to call a special meeting of the Council for that night, but, fortunately for Recorder Jarvis and Treasurer Crane, who were not ed prepared with their reports, a quorum le secured and hence the meeting was deferred until the next oould not evening. Mr. Shaffer was present when Crawford called on me Maycr'-- a HT' f mine- dlately tendered the star to the new Marshal, who graciously requested the gentleman to retain It until evening, when the meeting was to be held. At the regular Council meeting Tuesday night the new officials were all duly Installed and the old ones relieved of their past responsibility. Recorder Jarvis hamled in his report, but Treasurer Crane was not ready with his report. We understand, however, that the money has all been handed to the Treasurer, and presume the report has gone with It. We could And much to criticise In the outgoing administration, and, at the same time, we can find much to commend them for, and we lienee draw the mantle of charity over their misdeeds and shall speak well of them for their worthy acts. Gentlemen, you could have done better, but you might hnve done much worse. We hope the present administration will do as well as their predecessors' and as much better as possible. We have great confidence in them. Janfrs T. Jakeman. DISLOCATED 1IER SHOULDER.
