G. Wright who is' in charge of the arrangements. Speaker for this banquet will be Wendell J. Ashton of Gillham Advertising Angency. Mr. Ashton's father is the late Marv Ashton, a Sugar House pioneer. Mr Ashton's Ash-ton's topic will be "Growth Patterns Pat-terns In Sugar House." Introduction of the "oldtimer" guests will be by D. James Cannon, Can-non, retiring executive secretary of the chamber. Holger Larsen will give the invocation. Approximately 35 businessmen are expected to be honored at the 15th annual Chamber dinner. The luncheon will be held , at Beau Brummel Restaurant, be-... be-... ginning at 12:15 p.m. Another group of "oldtirners" was feted last Sunday at the SUP Pioneer Village Museum. With a pioneer theme recalling the "good old days", more than 50 couples attending the program sponsored by the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce. The event was under the direc- tion of Horace Sorensen, president of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, and Mrs. Peggy Elton Gunderson. It included exhibits displays, entertainment enter-tainment and refreshments. Burt Keddington served as master of ceremonies and the Sugar House queen and her attendants, attend-ants, along with Mrs. Gunderson, were hostesses. The royal trio and Mrs. Gunderson were dressed in gay 90's costumes. The queen is Karen Page Carter and her attendants attend-ants are Jeralyn Tophson and Mary Lynn Ritter. A barber shop quartet sang a3 Mrs. Zilla Rose received an Easter bonnet for her 82 years in Sugar House. Mrs. LaRue Swindle played the electric organ which was furn ished by Hart Bros. Music Co. Judging of the window displays at several business houses took place last Tuesday and a special plaque was to be awarded the winner win-ner at the Chamber banquet this afternoon, according to Bruce R. FoTsom, who is in charge of the contest. The window displays depict Sugar House history in a 100-year span, Mr. Folsom said. Featured also during the anniversary an-niversary celebration was the initiation of "Wednesday Bonus Days" in the local stores. The special 52-week promotion will ofer sales on every Wednesday during the coming year, according to Chamber of Commerce officials. |
