Show PAVING PROGRAM BECOMES REALITY THRU COUNTY AID JOINT MEETING OF TOWN AND COUNTY BOARDS IS HELD Definite assurances were given members mem-bers of the town board last Saturday that the county will assist in financing financ-ing the laying of pavement through a portion of the business section of Milford. Mayor O. F. Hubbell, and Town Trustees Murdoch, Clay and Farmer comprised a group which met with the county commissioners and were given a promise of seven thousand thous-and dollars to defray half of the cost of paving here. The move to get pavement was started over a year ago, but concerted concert-ed efforts have been lacking until the last two months. A willingness on the part of the county to assist has always been present but it has never been possible to get down to 'brass-tacks" 'brass-tacks" through a joint board meeting until the last week-end. With success in. their paving program pro-gram now definitely assured, the lighting of the main street through a new system of street lights will be inaugurated. This will be put through as a separate project however, as it has no connection with county funds. New conduits will in all probability be installed at the same time that the paving work is underway. Both paving and new lights will be in place by the end of this season. The extent that will be paved is not definitely settled. It will comprise a few blocks of Main street, with the extremes being at the railway crossing cross-ing to the south, and the turn on the Pikes Peak Ocean-to-Ocean Highway at the north. , f |
