Show Immtin SYSTEMIC CATARRH. yc-ni- Is the only Systemic Catarrh Remedy known to the Medical Profession aa JOKED ONCE TOO OFTEN. ! Tragic End That Came to a Man Who 8hould Have Known Better. William Tucker, of Vineland, N. J.. has quit Joking. Until a few days ato h$vss iu the habit of playing a killing joke on the engineers who run on the West Jersey and Seashore railroad. Mr. Tucker was a lawyer, and it was a delight to him to walk upon the track of the railroad mentioned when he saw an express train approaching. He would turn his back and pretend to be ao deeply plunged in thought as to be oblivious of the approaching train until it was within twenty or thirty feet of him, when he would jump aside and wave hia hat at the horrified engineer. Mr. Tucker played this joke over and over again on almost every engineer on the road, and at last teemed to feel that he had been cheated out of Bometnlng good if a day passed without giving him an opportunity to have a laugh at some engineers expense. A few days ago Mr.. Tucker's friends sadly gathered up the few pieces of him that could be found strewn along the track at the place where he had been in the habit of playing his joke. He had played it once too often, as the practical joker always does. But the lesson of his fate will probably be overlooked by the people who think practical jokes are funny. It is one of their misfortunes that they cannot learn. If they could, and Mr. Tuckers fate were to turn any of them from their foolish ways, his life would be sacrificed in a good cause. Mrs. Emma E. The medical profession is just beginning to awaken to the fact that chronic catarrh, especially systemic catarrh.will soon produce a condition so nearly re aembling nervous prostration that it is very difficult to tell one from the other. Peruna cures these cases without fail. If you do not derive prompt and satisfactory results from the use of Peruna, write at once to Dr. Hartman, giving a full statement of your ease, ana he will be pleased to give you his valuable advice gratia Address Dr. Hartman, President of The Hartman Sanitarium, Columbus, O. Nervous prostration Is so frequently associated with systemic catarrh that some doctors do not distinguish between the two. In systemic catarrh the disease has pervaded the whole system and there is a constant loss of vital fluids from the mucous xuembraDec A great many people are doctoring for nervous prostration who would be immediately cured by a course of Peruna. Eelch, Division St., Fond du Lac, Wis." Dear Mrs. Pixkiiam: Happy Is the Man Who Possesses It in Reason. I regard a sense of humor as one of the most precious gifts that can be vouchsafed to a human beiug. He is not necessarily a better man for having it. but he is a happier one. It renders him indifferent to good or bad fortune. It enables him to enjoy his own discomfiture. Blessed with this sense he is never unduly elated or cast down. No one can ruffle hia temper. No abuse disturbs his equanimity. Bores do not bore him. Humbugs do not Impose on him. Sentimental gush does not influence him. The follies of the moment have no hold on him. Titles and decorations are but childish baubles in his eyes. Prejudice does not warp his judgment. He is never in conceit or out of conceit with himself. He abhors all dogmatism. The world is a stage on which actors strut and fret for his edification and amusement, and he pursues the even currents of his way. invulnerable, doing what Is right and proper according to his lights, but utterly indifferent whether what he does finds approval or disapproval from others.
