Show Thursday, November 5, 1959 Central Builders Supply to Have Grand Opening Cliff Alson and Allen Michelson of Central Builders Supply Co. at 6041 So. State St., have just com- pleted a new building for their company. The building, a modernistic masterpiece, is a beautiful thing to see. Cliff and Allen are catering to fans and have the a complete line of building supplies, tools and accessories. They would like to see their many friends at the grand opening. The date of the opening will be announced in this paper. Whittier to Host Back To School Night The Whittier for is slated Thursday, Nov. 5 at the school at GRANGER Page 3 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS Back-To-School-Ni- VFW District No. 3 To Give Away Turkeys Halloween Jinks MAGNA The witches and the goblins surely put a jinks on the Webster Elementary School of Magna over the Halloween weekend. Salt Lake County Fire Dept, was notified about 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening that the school was on fire. The fire that was believed started by an electrical short, continued to flare up at intervals for about two hours even though five units of the fire department were on hand to battle the blaze. Although the front roof section was demolished, school Was to convene on Tuesday in the areas of the school undamaged by the fire. Four rooms were under repair and two of them would be back in use by the weekend. The other two would be put into use upon the repair of the front roof section. Officers of the various VFW organizations are in possession of tickets that may be obtained towards the drawing of turkeys to be held at the Magna VFW Club Monday, Nov. 23. Persons obtaining these tickets need not be present at the time of the drawing to collect their prize. Anyone interested in having a nice turkey on that Thanksgiving table, contact the officers in your respective post. The VFW Auxiliary of Magna had their costume party last week, and winner for having the prize costume was Lyla McCarty. As all of the girls were to come as hobos, she was picked as the best dressed hobo. University of Utah to Feature Essay Contest The ninth annual Thomas Paine Foundation essay contest will center on the theme, Thomas Paine as Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the Silas Deane Matter. The University of Utah announced that the first prize in the nationwide contest is a $100.00 U.S. Savings bond. Second and third prizes of $50.00 and $25.00 bonds will be given. Any college student may enter. The essay must be at least 3,000 words and must be submitted to the Thomas Paine Foundation, by Jan. 10, 1960. 7:30 p.m. Mr Lawrence, school principal, will introduce the faculty to the parents. A film entitled Right Angle, will be shown to the public attending the function. The parents will separate into the Individual classrooms to hear a few words from the respective teachers.
