Show JOHN H. COOMBS DIES SUDDENLY SALT LAKE CITY, Nov., 3. I John II. Coombs, well-known Utah educator and principal of the East high school of Salt Lake City, died here Sunday morning as a result of a blood clot forming on his foot about two weeks ago. Mr. Coombs was a Utah county native, having been born in Payson March 21, 1877. After graduating from the Payson schools and the educational department of the University Uni-versity of Utah he started teaching in Payson, later becoming principal of the schools in Pleasant Grove, i From there he went to the Salt I Lake City schools where he has steadily ndvanced from one responsible respon-sible position to another until he became principal of the East high three years ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Merle Halliday Coombs, formerly of Pleasant Grove, two sons, Virgil H., a teacher in Jordan junior high and Wendell, a student at the University Uni-versity of Utah. Two brothers, David and Frank Coombs, live in I Payson and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Sullivan resides in Eureka. Funeral services will be held in the Assembly Hall in Salt Lake City I.Tuesday, ftt 12:30 p. m. |
