S ments, may produce deficient crops which live on the crops, and in which in turn affect the livestock which live on the crops, and in some cases the people who eat food raised on that land. First step is to "know your land and its weak spots, which is covered in the exhibit with a special motion picture in sound color. With such knowledge as a start, conservation measures are applied to promote better farming methods which save time, labor, machinery, fuel and fertilizers. Basic facts and methods of land and water conservation are set forth by enlarged photographs and attractive color displays. Conservation problems often reacquire community or area-wid- e tion for solution. The Soil Conservation District provides an organization for such action. Despite all such efforts, only eleven per cent of the soil subject to erosion is now protected. Also included in this group is a watershed exhibit. Models and animated features in this exhibit show that a large proportion of the water available comes from mountain watershed, which can be protected by careful grazing and forest cutting, .thus insuring a continuing supply of clear water. sistant chief engineer of Los "PLANK STEAK" An- geles county, California, is treasurer, and Hal Colling, of Los Angeles county, California, is treasurer, and Hal Colling, of Los Angeles, California, is Managingsecretary.
