Show Denver, Nov 27. When the trial of Gertrude Gibson Patterson, for tho alleged murder of her husband, Chas. O. Patterson, was resumed today, the defendant, composed but showing traces of the nervous collapse which succeeded her release from closs-cx- aminatlon Saturday was in court. It had been feared that her condition might render It impossible to proceed with the case at this time. Rose Gard and Ida Kelly, two women wom-en prisoners, were called by the defense de-fense and stated that they saw a bruise on Mrs Patterson's cheeck, wbero the latter says her husband struck her on the day of the shooting, when Mrs. Patterson was brought to the jalL On cross-examination Miss Kelly stated that she had talked with Miss Gard about their Impending testimony tes-timony but Mlas Gard denied this. Wllils Y. Elliott, tho district attorney, attor-ney, who acted for Mrs. Patterson in her divorce proceedings, and for that reason turned tho prosecution of his client over to Horace G. Benson, was tho next witness. At the time ho drew up Mrs. Patterson's Patter-son's complaint against hor husband Mr Elliott declared that tho former bore evidence of assault In bruises on her face and nock and abrasions of tho skin. Cross-examination was perfunctory per-functory Fred Farnum, who married Mrs. Patterson's sister, and Mrs. Leonora Nechf, who was a neighbor of tho Patterson's in 1910, testified that Patterson Pat-terson was in the habit of carrying a revolver. Police Matron Mary J Pato testified testi-fied that Mrs. Patterson's left cheek was swollen on the day she w'as brought to the Jail. Mrs. Nottle White, upon being sworn, slated that she had witnessed an assault by Patterson on hh wife In tho streets of this city last July. Mrs. U. A.
