Show GRANO AT PARK CITY Gov Wells and Party Were Royally Received I BY CHEERING MULTITUDES 1 I Monster Demonstration and Mighty Enthusiasm Hon C E All n at Iiohi Hon Thomas Pitch Captures I Eureka Hon A L Thomas at Manti Judge Botkin Closes His I Addreoscs at Logan Both Parties Have Rallies at t KaysvJJlo and I I SprIngville I I TRIBUNE SPJCIAr I Park City Nov rrhu Hepublleans I closed their campaign In Summit county coun-ty tonight with a tremendous rally at t the Dewey theater Just before the I meeting a great torchlight procession I headed by the Park City military band 1 muiched thiough the streets which I wore lined with a multitude of cheerIng cheer-Ing men women and children The I cheering was continuous throughout I the parade and a dense throng assembled I I assem-bled In front of the theater as the I I head of the procession halted 1 there Some twenty or thirty youngsters assembled 1 as-sembled at the Democratic headquarters I headquar-ters which la just across the street I from the Dewey and aid ml by a few I older Democrats J attempted to raise a counter demonstration but Ihelr yells j were completely drowned by the cheers I Of the Republicans c Every available spot in the opera house was I PACKED WITH HUMANITY and more than 500 people were obliged to go away without gaining entrance Senator Brown was unavoidably detained de-tained In Salt Lale but the crowd was evldenlly out to welcome Coy Wells and right royally they did It I The Interior of the theater was beauil fully decorated with flags bunting and appropriate banners I Chairman Welsh of the county com nilttee presided and opened the mmet I JUg witn a few woiichoscn remarks I which were loudly applauded Chairman Chair-man Welsh first Introduced the ladles glee clUb of Salt Lake who rendered an excellent selection and were received re-ceived with loud applause Hon David Keith addressed the meeting briefly and was followed by I HON THOMAS KEARNS who spoke strongly relative lo the attempt at-tempt of the Democrats to trade off Grover Cleveland for Abraham Lincoln I He referred lightly to the attempt of the Herald to ridicule his speeches made at other places and said that Mr Chambers paid several thousand 1 dollars per month for some years to get an organ which would publish such I statements Mr Kearns put the lead question before his ay lence as a busl I I ncss proposition anti showed where their Interests were Ho showed clearly the fallacy of the Democratic claim of being In favor of free silver concluding conclud-ing his speech with some eloquent remarks re-marks on expansion Mr Kearns was greeted with much applause The glee club then gave another selection and I received an encore I GOV WELLS I was greeted with an ovatIon and spoke I generally on local Issues giving the true history of the eighthour law and reviewing the Republican legislation which has done so much to advance tho Interests of Utah The glee club was again greeted with an encore after which James Don Republican Re-publican candidate for County Treasurer Treas-urer was Introduced and gave a splendid splen-did recitation in tribute to the flag Mr Dons effort was greeted with tremendous tre-mendous applause HON C C GOODWIN was then I lotroduced and wn given a mosi nattering reception TJIC judge devoted his time to a presentation of the work done by the Republican party and the dlrelecllon of the Democrats In falling to carry out the promises made before election He also referred scathingly to the failure of the last Utah Legislature to elect a United States Senator Although It wan late when the Judge took the lloor the hall remained packed to the door until the close of the speech During nearly the whole of iho meeting meet-ing a band of boy paraded the streets I with a few drums and torches shouting their host for Bran But the only effect oC their efforts was to diive the l few good citizens off the streets Altogether It was one of the largest and grandest rallies ever held In Park I City i |
