The pageant opened Wednesday and will continue through Saturday beginning nightly at 8:45. First presented in pageant form in 1967 at the Sanpete County Fairgrounds, the production has continued to grow in dramatic power and audience appeal. Seating for about 5,000 people is provided at the foot of Temple Hill and arrangements for parking has been made. Food and other refreshments are available. The service stations are staying open for the convenience of our visitors. When the band left the school grounds last Saturday on the first lap of their trip to Canada, there were many parents and interested townspeople on hand to wish them luck on the way to Calgary. It didn't stop at the school grounds, and a regular caravan of people followed the busses to Provo to wave the kids on their way. The High School Band will march in the Pioneer Day Parade in Salt Lake on Friday, July 24, and will lead ti e parade in Eureka on Saturday, July 25. Mother of local resident dies Clara Jean Beardall Paxman, 81, mother of William Paxman of Eureka, died in a Provo rest home Monday evening, July 13, 1970. She was bom May 26, 1889 in Springville, a daughter of William Henry and Clara Viola Packard Beardall She married Thomas Paxman on December 17, 1908. He died June 4, 1951. Six of her seven children survive, they are as follows: Win. Paxman, Eureka; Ronald E., Spanish Fork; Frank of Con- cord, Calif.; 3 daughters, Mrs Auleen Dumas, Murray; Mrs. LaVem Bryan, Payson; Mrs. Emily Campbell, Chico, Calif.; 33 grand children; 62 greatand 1 grandchildren five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary in Spring-v:llBurial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville. great-great-grandchi- Mrs Dora Randle is in the Cottonwood Hospital where she is undergoing a series of tests. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wall turned home last' Saturday after an enjoyable trip to Colorado. Their travels took them to Grand Junction, Leadville, Montrose, Mesa Verde and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Tauna Lee and Becky returned home on Wednesday and Trudy and Tricia remained here for the week. Cydney Hawkins of Midvale, left Saturday for her home. She had spent the past two weeks here with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Paxman, who accompanied her to Midvale. Eureka native Eureha baseball team wins two 8-9-- 10 Dorothy Newman Thomas, a native of Eureka, died July 10 at her home in Genola of a heart ailment. She was bom in Eureka on May 6, 1896 to Matthew and Ericka Abrahamson Newman. She received her education in the Eureka schools. She married Milton Thomas, Feb. 3, 1916 in Provo; later solemnized in the Manti IDS Temple. She was a coordinator in the LDS Junior Sunday School for 15 years and a Relief Society tea- Eureka Cubs Baseball boys played Santaquin Blue Sox on Wednesday, July 1 at Eureka, with Eureka coming out the victor, with a score of 10 to 9. On Wednesday, July 8 they played Goshen at Goshen, with Goshen winning by a score of 5 to 1. On Friday, July 10, they played Spring Lake at Eureka and won by a score of Ricky Gillespie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Gillespie of Salt Lake, is spending the week here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Gillespie. cher.
