The art show will formally begin Sunday, Oct. 12. This will be the first year that Mr. Young has n show in presented a Springville. This sculpture was one of the pieces exhibited in the Utah biennial exhibit at the Salt Lake City Art Center. It was one of the three sculptures chosen out of 27 to be shown at the center during the Utah biennial (1968). It is made of chrome steel and fiber-glasThe second creation is titled Mechos Life depicting the creation of life through an organic seed form. It received a second place gold award at the 1968 State Fair. The third piece to be included in the exhibition is titled "His Boldness. The figure depicts a feeling of strength or boldness of man. The creation is a portrayal made of birch and plastic coated steel. The fourth sculpture has been titled Mechos Extention symbolizing a figure extending or pushing outward. It placed second within the silver awards given during the 1969 Utah State Fair. Mr. Young is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a B.S: and M.A., and recently completed a M.F.A. at Utah State - Prior to attending University. BYU, Mr. Young received his A.S. degree from CEU. He is in his eighth year as chairman of the Art Department at CEU. These filings must be accompanied by petitions of candidacy signed by at least 25 bonafide residents of the city who voted in the preceding general election. Two candidate slates are assured for the coming election the Progressive and Action parties. Heading the Progressive slate is Guido Rachele, present councilman, candidate for mayor, along with Jack Kobe and Harold M. Hanson, candidates for council-men.
