Show LIVES OF THE HEROIC ONES Lieut Harry A Young was born In Salt Lake City February 21 1SC3 He I received his education In the public schools of the city and In the Unlver wlly of Utah After his graduation from the University he went East where he fitted himself for the practice of medicine At the time of the outbreak out-break of the SpanishAmerican war he was living In Ephralm Sonpete county Amorrg the first to respond to his coun trys call he was appointed quartermaster quarter-master sergeant of battery A He served in that capacity ofllcently until his skill aa a physician in the Philippines Philip-pines recommended him for a commission commis-sion One morning before daybreak he rode beyond the lines and was caught in a rebel ambush His body was found badly mutllalccl by the native machetes His commission aa a Lieutenant Lieu-tenant had not reached him at the time of his murder His father was Lorenzo Young one of the early Utah pioneers 9 Sergl Ford Fisher was born at Sea ford Del In 1S77 Tie attended the public schools In this city and later filled himself for civil engineering Ford Fisher was much beloved by all who knew him He was always of a brave adventurous spirit nod was quickly at the recruiting station upon the call for volunteers lie was killed on May llth at Rio Grande while standing bravely before the fire I of the Filipinos His father is I M Fisher of this city a c F r Corp I John G Young served with battery I bat-tery A receiving his chevrons for general gen-eral efficiency Ho was stricken down by rebel bullet at the battle of Cavlte He was in the van of the advance line when struck in tho breast and he died a few hours later Corp Young was born at St Charles Ida August 28 1S71 Ills death took place Just a day before the > body of his brother Harry Young was found beyond the lines S 0 Charles Parsons was also a member of battery A At the lime of his enlistment en-listment he gave his age at 21 but he appeared much younger l He was born In Salt Lake Although he gave the recruiting officer the information that he had no parents or guardian yet he has parents living in the city and In his eagerness to serve his country he enlisted without their consent or knowledge knowl-edge He died at Manila April 20 1S9S I I of blood poisoning caused from the use of a brass mouthpiece on a buglo o o Private William 1 Goodman was shot down In action at Santa Mesa February Febru-ary 5th Goodman was a tailor He unlisted with Capt Wedgewoods reCruits I re-cruits and upon reaching Manila was assigned to battery A Upon his enlistment en-listment at Fort Douglas he gave his age as 2C years and his birthplace as Hoganess Sweden He was unmarried unmar-ried |
