There have been a number of dances, but none of them very largely attended. The town seems more lively now that the students stu-dents have returned. The exceedingly exceeding-ly cold weather gave some of them very uncomfortable drives across the county. Mr. Western, Deserefs weather man, reports a temperature of 11 degrees below xcro several nights this week. Dr. Robinson, the dentist, who has been doing work around Ftlmore and Kanonh, is expected in Hlncklay next week. Appointments should bo made early. The community should be grateful that Mr. Ted Wicker owns an automobile, auto-mobile, which he understands ao well how to operate and keep in repair; for within the fast two weeks he has been able to help aave two lives. On the first occasion Dr. Stevens telephoned tele-phoned for Dr. Ilroaddua to come to Fillmore at once and help operate on a very serious surgical case. Delta auto stage was out of commission, but with Mr. Whlcher's car Dr. Broaddus was able to go to Fillmore, assist in the operation and return all In a Sunday afternoon. The patient pa-tient Is steadily recovering. Last Thursday Dr. Broaddus waa called to the home of Mrs. Chldlster, who is teaching school In Abraham, and found her 4-year-old little girl In a very serious condition ofperltonltls, due to appendicitis. Hinckley even before the child could be brought in from Abraham. Tie new private office behind the drug tore made an excellent operating room. The operation was performed Thursday and was very successful. The child Is making a splendid recovery, recov-ery, remaining In Hinckley where she can have dally attention. Saturday afternoon the Hinckley school children bad a dance In the Academy Gymnasium, and expected a basket ball game, but the Oasis team did not appear. Mrs. John Henry Western has been suffering for several weeks with a bad felon. Mr. John Kd. Wright of Hinckley Is building a new frame addition to his houxe, Mr. Boudett, a Frenchman, and painter, has located In Hinckley. As a young man he had thorough training as an apprentice in a paint shop. He has been at bis trade for a good many years and does very careful, neat work. Best of all he keeps his word and stays right with every Job be undertakes un-dertakes until be has finished It. Ills work Is really worth more than he charges for It. He has done the painting paint-ing and staining on the new post-offlce post-offlce and the new drug store and Is now engaged on some painting for Geo. Theobold.
