elapsed since the passage of the act has been employed in completing the designs and perfecting the notes no official statements in relation to this currency have yet been made by the treasury department but the five dollar and ten dollar notes which are arc respectively in the hands of tile the continental tin and american bank note companies of thie city and some unfinished dies for the notes of higher P denominations sufficiently indicate tile nature of the designs the plan of the notes is novel and singularly beautiful tile the prominent leads ant and figures ch distinguish so many of the bank bills now in ill use are arc entirely omitted from these notes the figures denoting value are small sma I 1 and the borders ale neatly and ca cn fully engraved with combinations and a d wreaths the ordinary distinction be twee n the face and back of bank notes lias has in this case been so nearly destroyed that the designations observe and re have taken the place of those terms in
