Show 0 MONTANA lewiston argus henry M rae went out to kendall tuesday to look over the north moccasin at which property conditions are becoming very encouraging the shaft is now down about feet and an ore body feet thick has been cut this does not appear to be what is known as the big kendall vein but a different body altogether sheridan enterprise dobyns bros although not saying anything have struck it rich on wis creek after years of incessant toil and hardships that only a miner can understand they have at last been well repaid for their labors they are deserving of their success as many would have deserted the claim long ago but it was when the prospects looks darkest that the dobyns dug hardest they are said to have the tempting offer of for their claim dangling before their noses butte miner during the past week a valuable body of ore was uncovered in the properties of the east butte extension com pany whose holdings lie close by the ground of the east butte company in the wall shaft last wednesday a vein was uncovered at a slight depth and as a result there has been considerable elation in the ranks of the extension stockholders development work is going on without interruption at the extension E x properties and some fine looking rock aock has been taken out A carload of ore avas was shipped friday and another shipment will be made during the coming week min ing men who examined the samples taken from the lead encountered wednesday say the ore runs very high in copper and assays essays have shown this statement to be true the extension men predict that within six months they will have a producer that will rival the east butte property dillon tribune pearl I 1 smith who has been the leading man in the operations or the crystal graphite company whose property is located in the axe canyon south of dillon informs us that the company will probably resume the development of their properties in that district during the coming summer the graphite that has been taken out of the properties has been of the highest grade and the company has received much encouragement to develop its mines and put the mineral on the market definite plans for future operations have not been decided upon deer lodge silver state D A jacobi jacob of chicago and A D struthers of des moines iowa were in deer lodge last friday and saturday they represent an eastern syndicate who will build a dredge boat up on dry cottonwood creek where they have acquired some rich sapphire and placer gold bearing ground it is a well known fact that the gulch they are on yields the hardest and most brilliant stones in montana as well as a liberal supply of gold their ground is located just above louis grand pres place and below it is another company who have a hydraulic outfit and seven m men en have just recently been put to work there butte mining review work at the butte copper belt properties has been going on steadily during the past w week eek and the property is looking more promising t than ban ever before several valuable strikes have been made of late in the copper belt district but the news has generally been suppressed there are a number of claims in the vicinity being worked by leasers leaders and small operators and considerable high grade ore has been extracted the officials of the copper belt company have been rather reticent about telling what they are doing or what their intentions are other than they will continue to keep a force of men engaged in exploration and development work butte mining review good copper ore has been struck at a depth of 70 feet in the ida claim the shaft on which is within 50 feet of the creek at a point about yards southeast of the shaft of the altona the shaft is in low ground while that on the altona is well up on the hill that divides columbia garden canyon from the first canyon south the ida is under lease and the les sees are doing their hoisting with a whim the vein is I 1 said to be four feet wide it was struck at a depth of about GO 60 feet drifting on it is in progress the bin conta contains ins 12 or 15 tons of ore that will yield from 10 to 15 per cent copper some of itis it is copper glance and will go much higher possibly 35 or 40 per cent deer lodge silver state L R bumbaugh and V D dark clark of garnet recently made an important strike in a mine they have been developing in the neighborhood of the garnet district a section heretofore condemned too as up to this time quartz leads discovered only yielded 3 to 4 per ton in gold bumbaugh and dark clark in running in on a 3 foot lead struck a streak four to six inches in width that was full of native gold so far they have taken out six tons of quartz that samples not less than to the ton Bunc bunches binckes kes of copper ore in the lead also assay up to 60 ounces in silver and 20 in gold while as yet it is only a prospect the rich find is the more important por tant as heretofore as above stated it is situated in a district not believed to be any good dillon tribune much has been said in the past about the montana ajax mine in the big hole basin the owners J E D morse and A J noyes have been unceasing in their efforts to bring this property to the front and indications are that success is at hand last week the tribune told of the 7 foot lead of high grade free milling gold ore that had been encountered in tunnel no 4 also told of the tramway that is to be constructed ted from the mine to the mill this new lead of ore together with other leads that have been opened up mark the montana ajax mine as one of the beaverhead countes coun tys bosl mos promising properties when the tramway is constructed so that operations throughout the whole years are assured there is little doubt but that those holding montana ajax stock will receive handsome dividends from the money invested |
