Show April 15 03.qxd 12/7/2021 3:54 PM Page 5 THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume VIII Issue I Page 5 April 15, 2003 Womack Captures Title at State Championship Competition Kimberly Womack of Huntsville recently won the all-around gymnastics title at the State Championships held at the Spectrum on Kimberly Womack the Utah State University campus in Logan, Utah. Competing as a level 10, she competed in the 16 – 17-year-old age division. In addition to being the State Champion in the All-around, she also placed second on Floor Exercise with a 9.475; second on the Uneven Bars with a 9.15; second on Balance Beam with a 9.025; and third on Vault with a 9.25. Her All-around score was a 36.9. The senior from Weber High School stated that she has competed in her last State Championships, and will miss it. Her next competition will be Regionals, to be held in Phoenix, Arizona on April 4, 5, and 6. After the State Champion ship awards ceremony, it was announced that the top seven gymnasts from the state of Utah had been selected to form a team to compete in a goodwill tour of Russia this summer. Kimberly and her new teammates to be from around the state of Utah, have expressed their excitement about this opportunity. On March 8, Womack won the Uneven Parallel Bars title in her division at the Golden State Friendship Challenge held at the Burbank Hilton Hotel in California. She finished second on Vault with a 9.3, ninth on Balance Beam with an 8.425, eighth on Floor Exercise with an 8.775, and fourth in the Allaround with a score of 35.8. The meet hosted 80, level 10 and elite gymnasts from all over the United States. Kimberly is the daughter of Ben and Margaret Womack. He also garnered the Sustained Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Range Management in 1997. Locally, Tixier serves as a volunteer with the Eden Planning Committee. Tixier is retired from the U.S. Forest Service, where he had a successful career as a range conservationist, district ranger, range staff officer, and forest supervisor.
