Show P-T- - in n mi mum ma ir n uiiuiJ Kearns Minor League Managers For This Summer Youths Trek To Midvale JHS Granger Slates Meeting A GRANGER The Granger is inviting all elementary parents of grade school children to attend a special meet-into be held at the school Monday at 7:.")0 p.m. Parents having children that will enter school withm the next year are also urged to attend this important meeting. Dr. Burton F. Brasher will speak on the school bond election which will be held the following day. Issues will be and the bond explained. Also on the program will be the election and installation of next year's officers. Parents should be on hand to cast their vote. A choral and orchestral program will finish out the evening. The program will be presented by students from the 4th, 5th and 6th grades. The also announced their rag drive began Monday and will end Friday. THIS WEEK i m i iLimiip GKANITK flow audiences attended the Mill Creek, Hillview and William Penn elementary schools performance at a spring festival of music given at Granite high school Wednesday night, Apr. 15th. The theme for the program was "America on Parade" and featured 5th and Hth graders from the three schools. The combined band, orchestra and chorus were lend by their music in.stiuctors. The finale featured the entire group playing and singing the service songs of the Marine Corp. Navy, Army und Air Force. Instrumental directors were Wells A. McAllister, Richard Davis and Gain K. Resides Young Drivers'Get Chance At Honors Murray JC's To Sponsor surance Teen Road - E - 0 Sunday Students from Ml'KRAV four schools are eligible to compete in the Murray City to be sponteenage Road-E-sored Sunday by the Murray .Inninr Phnmber nf Commerce. The Javcces annually hold the event to encourage safe driving among teenagers. Youths from Murray, Highland, Granite and Olympus high schools may enter the competition according to John Q. Walker, president. Entry blanks may be obtained by contacting the principal's office or the driving instructor at these schools. Deadline for turning in the blanks is today. Is open to any The noad-E-student under 19 years of age who has a valid driver's license. The competition will get under way at 10 a.m. with a written examination at the Murray National Guard Armory. The driving test will get underway at 1 p.m. and the public is urged to attend and watch the youths display their eligibility in driving the family car. . In case o( bad, weather, tha contest will be held a week later. Mr. Walker announced. The Murray area winner will be sent to the state finals scheduled May 9th. The top Utah teenage driver will be entered in competition with winners from the 49 other states and the District of Columbia. The national finals will be held in August in Washington. D. C. A total of 54.500 in scholarships will be awarded the top drivers. The program is now in its eighth year and in 1959 an estimated 320,000 youths participated. The organization is striving to have a minimum of 500,-00- 0 participants this year. The Murray club has set 100 entries as its minimum goal. Entry blanks arc also available at Milt's Harbor Shop in Mount-view'- s GREENFIELD two 6th grades went to Midvale Junior High School last week to a "gym jamboree". There they were shown things the junior high students )uul learned during the year and it helped them to know a little of what they might expect next year. The students went by bus accompanied by Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Vowles, their teachers. Mountview's 6th graders were among approximately 360 students from elementary schools in Jordan District who were invited to the school because they will be the next 7th grade students. Midvale junior high has a similar program every year this time. It is a demonstration of what they have learned during the year, and they make their own costumes. Wh-- n presented for the 6tli grades, it is a dress rehearsal. The final presentation is for parents of the participating students. A gym jamboree is appropriately named.
