black hawk veteran pioneer of 1849 dies james varley standing 76 pioneer of 1849 and veteran of 0 the black hawk war died tuesday at the family residence east broadway after a prolonged illness mr air standing was a brother of the late hyrum standing former editor of the box elder news ol of this city and a brother ot of mrs airs jacob bigler ot of CoM collinsson collinston Col linston and L W standing of fielding mr standing was born at nashville tenn sept 16 1848 and immigrated to utah with his parents two years after the arrival of the first pioneers at the age ot of 18 he entered the black hawk war under the command ot of Or Orso sP niP miles allies following his marriage to eliza Br addley dec 28 1874 he made his bis horrie home at Col collingston collinston Colllns linston ton utah where he became active in church circles among the offices he held being superintendent ot of the sunday school ward choir leader and one of the presidents ot of the quorum of 0 seventies there returning to salt lake in 1888 he made his home in the tenth ward and tor for 26 years he be worked actively in ahe temple surviving are his widow and the following sons and daughters mrs airs J W smith george B standing mrs may nash joseph B and lawrence N standing mrs alvin butler all of salt lake mrs H D williams of 0 berthoud colo 26 grand children and three great grand children
