SCI 01$ NUMBER'S SPANISH (HIKES DD0D; DISCUSSES BEET PRICE TO HEAR ADDRESSES feature cf the condition of the schools .that will be of interest to the pa trees cf the school system who have children in the high school is tho enrollment and crowded conditions under which the pupils have to study. As a typical example: Spanish Fork high school has on enrollment this year of 484. These students are attempting to receive instruction in a building thnt was intended for not more than 250 pupils Cloven of the classes In the Spanish Fork high school have over 50 pu- plls each, si have between 45 and 50; 23 between 40 and 45 and only 12 lielow 40 students each. Anyone At)o is familiar with school conditions knows that 30 students Is the highest number that can be taught to good advantage, allowing each individual proper activity, to take , 136 boys are attempting ' mechanic arts in two small rooms at the local high school, where provid sions are made for that number. 181 girls are taking tho Home Economics classes while only one room is provided for work In cooking and two very small rooms for sewing. And yet we wonder why our girls and boys are not advancing as rapidly as they should in these studies! The reason for the 'crowded condition is perhaps found in the fact that the Ncbo school District has not kept pace with the other districts of i similar $lze in the state as the following comparisons will show: t In the four year period 1915 to 1919, the Boxelder School District expended for building purposes $121-12tho Cache District $95,077; the Carbon District $68,239; the Jordan Dstrlct $188,449; the Daivs District 146,469; the Granite District $245,-Th- e Nebo District expended cnlv $38,158. i For the past two years the administration of this school district has been promising the state and federal ' vocational officials that a vocational training building would be erected in Spanish Fork and Springville and date and federal funds have been ven to the district on that promise j Shall we keep faith with thepi and yith our boys and girls? In order to do this we must vote In favor of the bond issue on February 14th.
