Six thousand carloads of oranges are shipped every year from Riverside. The stop of three hours and fifteen minutes on the one-daexcursion trips afford ample time for automobile or carriage drives through the city and up Rubidoux mountain, from which a magnificent panorama of scenic beauty is presented to view; down the famous Magnolia avenue for several miles, to Sherman institute, the government Indian school, with its beau tiful surroundings, and back via Victoria avenue, another noted scenic drive. Mission San Gabriel, founded in 1771, is ten miles from Los Angeles, and the excursion train passes close- ly by the old hell tower whose chimes still call the faithful to prayer. The old mission is well preserved and in d daily use. It may be reached by electric line from the city and Is well joyed on this one day trip, a longer worth a visit. While much may be seen and will be profitable, as stops of several days might he well spent at Riverside and Redlands, and at other points, enabling the traveler to see more of the many beautiful sights. The fare for this excursion is $3 from Los Angeles to Redlands and return. On sale every day, and good for return within eight days from date of sale. On Sundays the round trip may be made for ?2.05. These fares cover only the railroad transportation.
