Show Page Four - The Pyramid - October 15, 1997 Badgers have 1 record with win over Walla Walla 4-- by Ken Beazer EPHRAIM-- - Midway through Snow Colleges football schedule, a pattern is developing. Rain, cool temperatures, big crowds d and home victories have combined to make Mother Nature and the Badger football team the surest bet this side of the suns daily ascension. lop-side- lOth-rank- Faced with soggy conditions and freezing rain, the Badgers lost little time getting on the board when Badger defensive back, Spencer Singer, picked off the Warriors first pass and raced 30 yards for a touchdown only 22 seconds into the game. Normally, one would consider a team from Washington to have the decided advantage playing in the rain; however. Singers heroics send a clear message early: when it comes to rain and wet fields, the 1997 Badgers have the experience and mental edge. Staked to an early 0 lead, the methodically worked Badgers their offensive and defensive game plans throughout the first half, never allowing their opponent from the Pacific Northwest to ever mount a serious threat to the games outcome. A field goal by Scott Thompson increased Snows lead to 10-- 0 as the first quarter came to a close. Then, a pair of second-quarttouchdown tosses by Fred Sal-anto Jack Schweiger from 16 and 10 yards out, pushed the lead to 24-It appeared as if the Badgers would take the 24-- 0 lead into the locker room when the half time horn sounded, sending both team off the field, only to be called back as two more seconds were added to the clock, setting up one more play for the Warriors offense. The extra two seconds were crucial as Walla Wallas quarterback lobbed a prayer into 7-- 38-ya- rd er oa 0.
