It's big. it s loud, and it's out of control. It s senior, Anthony l uga's hair. I asked Anihrmy what he thinks of Cavestock. "It's bad," says he. Bad. as in good. Chad "Too GxJ" AnagnatfRi. a junior, thinks that Cavestock is "very immaculate. It has very tasteful decor. de-cor. The dance is very relaxing. It's a gcxxl way to wind down after a year of stress. I enjoy a good smoothie on a hot summer day." But not as much as he enjoys Cavestock. The party starts at 5 p.m. with a very intense powder puff football game (it's where guts play). At 6 p.m., a raging battle of the bands will take place (I will be taking the stage at 6:40 p.m. if you care to hear the good stuff), and at H p.m. the last dance of the year will kick off. But wait, the fun doesn't stop there. No way. This year, the ballroom team is sponsoring a midnight movie (two of them), and not just any movies either. The moviegoers will have a choice between two of the hottest films out: "X-Men III: The Last Stand" or Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci OxJe." This decision has actually been voted "Toughest Decision of the Week" by a council of highly respected individuals. I, myself, am going to see X-Men of course, because I often hear that I look like Hugh Jackman (Wolverine). The fact that I have already seen "The Da Vinci Code" has nothing to do with my decision, I simply love the thrill of dressing up as Wolverine and having people ask for me to pose for pictures afterwards. But please, no autographs. It s such a pain to write with those blades protruding from my knuckles. So. whether you dance the night away tomorrow night at Cavestock. or play Halo 2 on X Box Live, you'll be wishing you were at Cavestock. And if you're there, and you're wishing you were there, then you'll be extremely ex-tremely happy. Or extremely confused So have a nice day, and a pleasant Cavestock. Barbara Christiansen NORTH COUNTY STAFF The graduating class of American Fork High School will take a short walk across the stage and a long walk toward to-ward the future at commencement commence-ment exercises on June 1. Ceremonies will be at 4 p.m. at the McKay Events Center of Utah Valley State College. The theme of this year's event is from "Spider-Man," and is "With great power comes great responsibility." Principal Carolyn Merrill complimented the Class of 2006. "I think this is a great class," she said. "There have been individual achievements Shannon Babb and Jeff Bean in science, Stephen Ste-phen Richards who won a National Na-tional Merit scholarship. "They excel beyond what is expected in all areas, collectively collective-ly and individually. I would call it the Class of Champions." Phillip McKinney will be the Valedictorian and Stephen Richards Rich-ards and Christopher Fox will serve as Salutatorians. Phillip said he was looking ahead. "I am looking forward to being be-ing able to pick my own schedule sched-ule in school and learn what I want to," he said. He is planning to study Latin at BYU. Stephen said. The beauty of graduation is two-fold realizing real-izing how far we have come and how far we can go. We can look forward to the future and realize what we can do." He plans on pursuing a career in law. Christopher said graduation was a big step forward. "I think that we are all going to miss high school," he said. It is time to move on and it will bring good times and good experiences ex-periences as well." He will attend BYU in preparation prepa-ration for medical school. He would like to practice pediatric pe-diatric oncology. The Class of 2006 has 455 members, one of the highest since the split of the schools with the class of 2000. Music will be provided by the choir and orchestra groups from the school. The choirs will perform "Make Me An Iastrument of Thy Peace" by Mary McDonald under the baton of Derek Lun-dahl. Lun-dahl. Shauna Smith will direct the orchestra in "Fifth Symphony op. 95" by Dvorak. Senior class officers will take part in the graduation. They include president T.C Taylor, who will welcome the attendees and secretary Lauren Bangerter, who will provide a tribute to parents. Also. Lynsey Leiter, activities vice president, will present a tribute to teachers. Keith Swain will represent the Alpine School District Board of Education and present remarks.
