Go figure. ne game out Rebels eliminated from playoffs By Neil Buchan Sun Sports Editor The Dixie Rebel baseball team travelled to Rexberg, Idaho, for the first round of the Region 8 Tournament with a bit of a swagger. On the heels of a e winning streak, the Rebels hoped they could carry that momentum into the playoffs. In the first game, the Rebels faced off against Ricks College ace Brett Heughly, who had compiled an 0 record in the regular season. In the first two innings, the Rebels scored five times to take a commanding 3 lead. Then in the fifth, the Rebel sluggers pounded Heughly for five more runs. The Vikings struck back in the seventh with five runs, but it wasnt enough as Dixie 0 posted the victory. Rebel pitcher Jeremy Ross allowedlO runs on eight hits. He earned his seventh winning decision of the season against one loss. In the second game, the Rebels werent as lucky against College of Southern Idaho. Sign-u- p is by team only and there is a $50 registration fee per team. Each team must consist of four players and registration forms must be postmarked by Thursday.
