Show W. S. A. Tbe Woman's Suffrage association of Provo met in regular session on Friday, March 7th at 2 p. m. in the priesthood room. Mrs. Snvder nrAsirHnor After the opening exercises a list of new names were enrolled, and a report re-port of the executive board called for. Excellent work is being done at the parlor sessions held weekly in the various wards. The meeting was very much disappointed disap-pointed by the absence of President David John who was programed to speak. The following program was rendered. Reading "Kat Field on the Admission Admis-sion of Utah as a State." Mrs. Till. Song with guitar accompaniment Mrs. Ruth McAdams. Reading "Woman's Rights" Mrs. A. M. Wiikins. Patrick Henry's speech before the adoption of the Declaration of Inde pendence Mrs. Jane Snyder. Reading "Woman's Exponent" Mrs. Gee. Mrs. Ellen Jakeman by request of the chairman, gave a report ot the Utah county committee who went to Salt Lake to lay the objections ofthe Utah county ladies to certain measires pending before the legislature, before the territorial suffrage presidency. The county president, Electa Bullock, explained that Mr3. Wells, territorial president, had done her duty by the subject, haying sent out letters to all the county orginazations, but the bills were so dead before the work was done that the ladies concluded to keep their amunition for another occasion. Mrs Daniels, Mrs. Billings and others Bpoke on vital questions, A vote of thanks was tendered Mr. Openshaw, who had furnished the association as-sociation with a list of names of the women taxpayers. Twenty-two settlements are repre sented, there are 696 persons and they payed last year $88,722.63. Mrs. John called a meeting of the executive ex-ecutive committee on Friday March 16th at the vestry of the meetinghouse. meeting-house. Adjourned to the last Friday in March. |
