Show New Utah - Thursday, October 7, 2004 - Page 13 Obituaries David G. Adams Morris William Clark Helen G. Durrani David G. Adams age 63, slipped away quietly on 92804 after a long illness. He was born August 25, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Roy and Bertie Adams. He was the youngest of 5 boys. He grew up in Tulsa where he went to Will Rogers High School and later attended the University Universi-ty of Arkansas receiving his B.A. Degree. He was an All American wrestler and an All American football player. play-er. Dave played in two Sugar Bowls for the Razor-backs Razor-backs and one year in the NFL for the Redskins. He later moved to Utah where he worked in the insurance industry for 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jo Ann Olsen Adams, to whom he was sealed in the Mount Tim-panogos Tim-panogos Temple. They raised five children: David "Barry" (Robyn) Adams; Andrea (Greg) Collins; Bryan (Lori) Adams; Brent (Chantel) Baldwin; Paul (Rachel) Adams; 15 grandchildren; grand-children; 2 great grandchildren; grandchil-dren; 2 brothers, Roy (Freda) and Ronald Adams of Oklahoma. He was pre- ceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond (Emma) (who passed three weeks ago) and Robert. Dave loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and exploring explor-ing the West. He loved working with the youth and successfully coached many years of football and baseball. base-ball. Life for Dave was helping help-ing the "underdog", providing provid-ing for the needs of others (even when it meant sacrificing sacri-ficing his own needs) and always being a positive influence. He was a selfless giver, totally unconditional and never drawing attention atten-tion to himself. The "big guy" will be missed by many .... but never forgotten. Funeral services were held Saturday October 2, 2004 in the American Fork 12th Ward (673 East 300 North). Burial in the American Fork Cemetery. Lehi - Morris William Clark, 88, passed away peacefully at his home late Monday, Oct. 4, 2004 surrounded sur-rounded by his family. He was born Aug. 4, 1916 to Asa and Julia Clark. He graduated from Lehi High School in 1935. He married Matilda Ann Slade on Jan. 14, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had two children. chil-dren. She passed away on July 31, 1977. He later married Donna Zimmerman Zimmer-man Evans on Aug. 4, 1978. Morris' life was of service serv-ice to family first, then to his church and community. He served on the Civic Improvement Association for over 40 years, was city councilman for 10 years, and mayor of Lehi for 4 years. He served as Rodeo Committee president for 43 years and was an original member of the Lehi Riding Club. He was superintendent superintend-ent of sunday school and YMMIA and was a home teacher for many years. Morris managed U&I Sugar in Lehi for 38 years until its closing. He spent 7 :, v. y the next five years at West Jordan Jor-dan U&I where he retired. He was a lifelong life-long ranch er and cattleman cat-tleman and was a member of the Utah Cattleman's Association. Morris loved the annual cattle drives as well as pleasure riding in West Canyon. He is survived by his children, Rochelle (Carl) Neil and Gary (Linda) Clark; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild as well as his wife and her family. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi 6th Ward, 200 S. 200 W. Family and friends may call Thursday, Thurs-day, Oct. 9, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi and Friday Fri-day at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Inter-ment, Lehi City Cemetery. Scouting district gets new leadership Helen Gardner Durrant, 76, died Thursday, September Septem-ber 30, 2004, in American Fork. She was born December Decem-ber 22, 1927 in American Fork to E. Ray and Stella Gerber Gardner. She married mar-ried her sweetheart, Duane M. Durrant, on June 13, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She will be remembered for her warmth, wit and spunky spirit. Helen loved the Lord and served Him in various callings and with quiet acts of kindness. She loved connecting with other people. To family and friends, her home was affectionately affec-tionately known as Helens Hotel. On the phone or in person, per-son, Helens listening ear, understanding heart and sensitive humor offered peace, hope and cheer to people in distress. To many, she was a friend who walked in when the rest of the world walked out. She actively sought to serve and assist anyone in need. Her love brought sunshine to the soul. Helens spunky spirit created cre-ated spontaneous fun throughout her life and gave her gritty determination determina-tion in times of hardship. Her fight for life inspired family, friends and medical professionals. profession-als. Helen loved the beauties o nature, especially sunsets and flowers. Shery, lovea ner friends and family. She especially loved her sweetheart, sweet-heart, Duane. She is survived by her children, Turana (Frank) Cameron, Highland; Jolene, St. George; Ross, American Fork; five grandchildren: John Cameron; Carissa and Brian Robinson; Jeff Griffiths, Grif-fiths, Jackie Griffiths; one brother and two sisters: Paul (Jackie) Gardner; Merline Throolin; and LaRae Mortensen; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded preced-ed in death by her parents, brother R.G. and sister Kathleen. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the American Ameri-can Fork 6th Ward, 300 North 100 East. The Silver Lake Scouting District takes in all of American Ameri-can Fork and serves six stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Community Presbyterian Church and St. Peters Catholic Church. Comes To American Fork Barry D. Barrus, D.D.S. is a pediatric dentist and the newest associate of Young Family Dental serving at the offices in Orem, American Fork and Saratoga Springs. Doctor Barrus is a Graduate of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Loyola University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois. After serving six years as a general dentist he completed his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at Children's Orthopedic Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Doctor Barrus served as a dental officer in the United States Air Force for twenty eight years. He retired in 2003 and with his wife, Gloria, moved to American Fork, Utah.
