Show SOME INCONTROVERTIBLE FACTS AS TO "PEACE TALK'." England's sea powor has not been broken, and Germany knows it. And in this connection England Eng-land does not think her sea power will be broken, nnd Germany believes about tho same thing. Germany and her allies are invincible on land, and England knows it. Germany's amazing power of organization, her advantages in operating opera-ting from the hub of her military wheel against nil fronts that threaten, gives her a position that Btands little chance of being seriously threaten-t'd, threaten-t'd, at least from n defensive standpoint. England will not give up fighting while Belgium Bel-gium is in German control. France will not quit so long ns parts of Northern Franco are in German Ger-man control. Tho army that England is preparing prepar-ing is intended primarily as n tool in an attempt to drive tho Germans from Belgium. If this is ever doric. it is reasonable to believe that all sides will bo ready to tolk peace in earnest. Also, both sides will be pretty tired of wnr, nnd there won't be any desire to go to Berlin or any desire de-sire to go to Paris. As the matter now stands, Germany doesn't think the allies can force her out of Belgium and Franco by force of arms, and the allies think they can. Whenever the allies become convinced thnt tho price of such an attempt is too high the war will be near its end. As for Russin, nobody knows what the bear will do yet or what it can do. Of late, Russia has been more optimistic than she has been since last summer, but that doesn't prove much. |
