place award for her season long achievements with the Sanpete Barrel Racing Association Competition was held every Sunday night over the summer with 10 jackpots consisting of pole bending and barrel racing Schena finished second in second in pole bending and first in barrel racing as well as first overall For her overall achievements she was awarded a saddle She also received a belt buckle for manhandled South Sevier Both Delta and South Sevier came into the game winless However Delta had a chance of winning some of their games while South Scvicrdid not This was the game where the Rabbits Finally played up to their potential for the whole game Delta won Early in the first quarter Delta established dominance With a running game Delta marched quickly unsurpassed down field and scored as Van touchplunged in for a down Ray Jackson then scored for a conversion giving successful Delta an lead After a staunch defensive stand Delta returned to the end zone when Joe Myers scored on a conversion jaunt The was again good giving the Rabbits after the first quarter The second quarter saw much of the same play Delta scored early but this time via the air Quarterback Ray Jackson threw a scoring strike to Pat Wolfe who made a twisting catch for the touchdown The Rabbits folconversion lowed with a Later Joe widening their lead to Myers scored his second touchdown with a run making the when the Richfield Wildcats visit Delta The Wildcats’ record is just like Delta’s Richfield will have a definite size advantage against the Rabbits especially on the lines Coach Fowles said "They’ve got a very good runner He’s 190 pounds and very fast Richfield will spread the field out At times they’ll have 4 wide outs Sometimes and one running back they’ll even go with 5 receivers and no one in the back field Our key to winning is to have our line play good and have discipline on the defense We’ve got to be on our toes and cover everything” Against South Sevier the offense was on fire Joe Myers was again the leading rusher as he had 180yardson 17 Neil carries and two touchdowns Palmer chipped in with 40 yards and Van Bcckstrom added 39 yards and a touchdown As a team Delta rushed for 328 yards on 50 carries The passing game also contributed 39 yards and two touchdowns giving the Rabbits 367 yards of total offense The offensive player of the game was a lineman for the first time this year That honor goes to Brad Moody The defense was also up to the challenge shutting out the Rams and not letting them get close to the goal for much of the game The defense got a total of five against the Richfield Wildcats Kickoff is at 4:30 pm An open house is scheduled for Monday Sept 24 to open the new racquetball courts complex in Delta The courts were added to the indoor swimming pool building which is operated by the West Millard Recreation District Construction on the addition began in September 1989 Contractor bid for the job was $580000 The court complex has a separate outside entrance but is also connected inside to the pool area where showers and lockers are located There are three finished and one unfinished courts The complex also features an office records storage room conference room exercise machine room and a large foyer area “A foyer sounds little" Pool Manager Carol Manning said "This one's huge There’s a pool table here and a jukebox It's kind of a gathering place It's really not a game room though It's a large foyer how's that?” M Inning said (he open house will be from pm to 9 pm Monday Area dignitaries including mayors county commissioners and members of the rec district board have been invited to tend a ceremony at noon Courts will be in use Monday "We are going to have some demonstrations going on when they’re not in use” Manning said The courts will be open from 5:30 am to 10 pm daily the same hours the pool is open Use of the courts cost $150 per person per hour Facility passes are available for use of both the pool and courts for details Call Interest in the new facility “has been really great" Manning said “I’ve had passes sold all summer” Passes will be sold Monday The courts can be used for more than handball or squash just racquetball "We have a wallyball net" Manning said “It’s like volleyball except you play it with one team against the wall It's supposed to be the rage up north Everybody is turning their racquetball week I’m very pleased with Lance and Chet's said Mr Thomas the performance” cross country coach Lance a senior ran his fastest time 14 seconds yet 17 minutes Chet Butterfield came in 23rd and his time was only two minutes later than Lance's time "It was a fast race but I feel I did Greener pretty good” said Lance The next meet is Sept 18 at Hurricane Hurricane’s course is 29 miles one of the
