New New Teacher File File I Don Doi Burdett Don Burdett anew Auto Trades Auto Trades instructor typifies the quality of instructors has on campus regardless of department Starting out in his fathers father's shop Mr Burdett has over 41 years of experience in the auto repair field He began at the bottom of repair by retrieving customers' customers cars from the lot for the shop at a local Chevrolet dealership 39 years ago Since ince then he has worked his way through all aspects of the service department from repair to Owner Relations Service Manager Representative Mr Burdett has primarily worked with General Motors vehicles and has spent his automotive career here in the Salt Lake area working at a variety of local GM dealerships constantly progressing in his fi field ld until there was nothing left to do except to open his own shop on East After several years Mr Burdett felt a need to make more progress and so moved d over to the staff of the General Motors Training Center here in Salt Lake At this position he helped 0 JI r. r c JY L' L I develop some of the instruction taught here on campus when the college was still Utah T Technical College and occasionally taught some night classes I This year his position was dosed closed so he came to teach at the college full Mr Burdett's training includes over individual classes from Champion Merchandising and Business Management from Chevrolet and has received recognition recognition tion from Auto Service Excellence as a Hall of Fame member This award makes Mr Burdett one of members out of To obtain this distinction Mr Burdett had to master the skills in Autos Heavy Duty Truck Body and Paint Not to be considered an afterthought Mr Burdett also has served 14 years as an instructor for Sun Electric By bringing the latest in electronic knowledge training and experience experience expert ence Mr Burdett feels he can help his future technicians not mechanics help their customers by providing better communication
