Show Choral groups to offer Christmas program More than 200 student singers from the A Cappella Choir, Men's Chorus, Chamber Choir and University Chorus, along with the Brass Ensemble, will give the Salt Lake City area an early Christmas present of the music in Kingsbury Hall, Sunday at 3 and 8 p.m. Bach's "Break Forth, 0 Beauteous Heavenly Light," from the "Christmas Oratorio," will open the annual Christmas Choral Festival. The concluding highlight of the program will be Randall Thompson's antiphonal "Pueri Hebraeorum," performed by the combined choruses. Nearly 20 compositions in all will be presented in the one hour and 15-minute program. Both performances will be free and there will be no reserved seats. Directors and student presidents of the four coral groups presenting the program are: Dr. Newell B. Weight and Stephen R. Snow, A Cappella Choir; Prof. John Marlowe Nielson and John Alan Lambie, Men's Chorus; Dr. Bernell W. Hales and Gerald Homer, Chamber Choris; and Prof. Thomas D. East and Fred Nydegger, University Chorus. |
