Show Commission views assembly The committee to study student government and change it by making it more representative met Monday. A proposal of instituting a student assembly made up of representatives elected members, one from the assemDiy and one at large. The changes would involve a major constitutional change. The committee is scheduled to present a proposal by the first of January. The change will go before the studentbody in February for a vote. by the students in the different colleges within the school was discussed. The proposed assembly of 25 would also include five students-at-large. The committee concluded that selecting the students from the colleges would provide the natural tie with the faculty and also provide for greater representation. The students at large would probably draw from the major action groups on campus they decided. The assembly would act as the legislative body of the government. The administrative tasks would be carried out by vice presidents in charge of different areas. The vice presidents would be appointed by the president. It also was decided the president needs to be given this additional power. The chairman would be selected either from the assembly or from the University-at-large. One of the three members of the board would need to come from the assembly to provide some communication link it was decided. The chairman would then select his other two |
