Vernal This week Ashley Valley farmers are facing a depleted Steinaker Reservoir, which for most will end the irrigation season. We expect by July 16 that Steinaker will be drawn down to the dead pool," said Scott Ruppe, manager of the Unitah Water Conservancy District. Also this week, the district will stop pumping water from Red Fleet Reservoir. It has been pumping about 30 acre feet per day from Red Fleet into the Upper or Central canals. Vernal City has purchased 30 acre feet of water and Ashley Valley Wrater and Sewer District have purchased 100 acre feet which is being exchanged at Ashley Springs. Many farmers will be able to get a second cutting of hay if they are careful, Ruppe said. For some farmers the first cutting was a little short because of radical changes in the weather this spring. Culinary water appears to be in good shape. Vernal Express Farmland is threatened p5T) K fr? iKrm Best Western Greenvvell Inn Welcome to Moab!
